Aesop Rock w/ Rob Sonic – Australia + NZ Tour

For the first time since 2011, indie-rap surrealist Aesop Rock will return to Australia for a headlining tour this September, with performances in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, as well as, for the first time ever, a special one off headline show in Auckland, NZ.

Aesop Rock’s last Australian performances left a great impression, receiving  high accolades, such as AU Review’s, “Aesop Rock gave us one of the best hip-hop shows Sydney has seen all year”.

With an undeniable flow and a penchant for rhyming over some of the best productions available in the genre, this is a live show that needs to be seen. Aesop will also be joined on this tour by his Hail Mary Mallon counterpart, Rob Sonic, as well as DJ Zone.

Two decades under his belt and Aesop’s only improving. His extensive vocabulary was reported to be the largest in rap. His choice of words warp time and disrupt balance with phonetic pairings that sprout out unpredictably. His latest album The Impossible Kid is a testament to this.

” one of the best MCs in terms of both rhyme complexity and content.” – Ellenwood

Live, Aesop Rock delivers a highly engaging and gripping performance. The energy levels keep on rising throughout the set with hands in the air and bouncing beats. The show is incredibly tight and precise, and given how complex and obscure some of Aesop Rock’s lyrics are, along with his unorthodox flow, the whole experience just leaves you in awe!

“But he was in the thick of the rager, commanding the crowd that displayed some of the best energy, dexterity and emotional power I’ve ever seen at a hip-hop show.” – Rhyme Junkie

An icon in indie-rap circles, Aesop still  finds new ways to improve on his skills and still keeps pushing it forward. Witness Aesop Rock in his absolute prime.

DJ Z-TRIP – Melbourne and Sydney Shows

DJ Z-Trip returns to Sydney and Melbourne to Mash Up Di Place!

Z-Trip is considered to be one of the best live performance DJs in history. Notably for being dubbed as the Rick Rubin of the DJ world with his roots based in Hip Hop, but he covers and loves all music styles.

Z-Trip received the title of “America’s Best DJ” and still remains on the top 10 lists year after year.

Just like Rick he helped design his own signature series DJ mixer, the Rane 62Z. Z-Trip has collaborated with some of the very best to ever do it: Nas, Bassnectar, Public Enemy, DJ Shadow, Rakim, Shepard Fairey, Talib Kweli and many others.

Z-Trip’s sound has a unique place in todays music scene. As a performer, he is one of the very few able to play traditional festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonaroo, SXSW and Australia’s Big Day Out, as well as the EDM circuit. His Electric Daisy Carnival and Electric Zoo sets were both festival highlights.

His artist debut album “Shifting Gears” received 4 stars in Rolling Stone. As a producer, he worked on Activision’s DJ Hero series.

He’s also a featured avatar in the game alongside Daft Punk, Tiesto, Grandmaster Flash and Deadmau5. Z-Trip also remixed tracks for Nirvana, The Beastie Boys, Dead Weather and The Jackson 5 to name a few.

Most recently, he collaborated with Lee Scratch Perry to rework Bob Marley’s classic “Punky Reggae Party” and with Brillz for Jay Z’s hit “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”.

Notary Korean MC Keith Ape has announced his first Australian and New Zealand tour in November 2016.Keith went viral with his smash hit “It G Ma” instantly putting Keith on the map and he went from underground artist to a blogosphere sensation.

It gained so much critical attention that it was later remixed in a video which featured the likes of A$AP Ferg,
Father, Dumbfounded and Waka Flocka.

Keith also collaborated with underground heavyweight Denzel Curry with a track called ‘Vigorous.’

He went on to partner with iconic fashion brand Converse to craft a visually arresting interactive video for his new single, “Diamonds.”

Vice’s NOISEY even jumped on the bandwagon and created a documentary of Keith, showcasing ‘The Great Korean Invasion of Keith Ape.’

Keith continues his streak with the release of his latest song “Let Us Prey” and features Bryan Cha$e already clocking over 490k views in just a week.

He also performed at SXSW with NOISEY describing it as the craziest rap show at SXSW. “Living up to the rock star, hardcore aesthetic Keith Ape’s denim-clad cohort projected, and it blew the crowd away,” NOISEY

Aside from his killer rap skills, Keith is also an obscure performer with some serious fashion style. From his face masks to his tattered denim and metal t-shirts, the rapper also made his New York Fashion Week debut at the VFILES SS16 show where he performed his global call-to-fame single, “It G Ma.”

Big Daddy Kane

Legendary BIG DADDY KANE announces Meredith Music Festival sideshows

From Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn to Australia – legendary Big Daddy Kane has announced his Meredith Music Festival sideshows for Sydney and Melbourne in December.

On his first visit to Australia, the hip-hop icon – still one of the sharpest rappers in the game – will bring his inimitable baritone and smooth flow to the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on December 12 and at The Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on December 13.

One of the titans of hip-hop’s golden age, BDK has had an astonishing career. He went from “raw” rap king to “Smooth Operator” R&B star, he even did “ladies only” shows. A known showman – with sharp suits and a high top fade – Kane put pressure on rappers to step their style up. He became a fashion icon, even appearing in the Madonna Sex book, half nude with Madonna and Naomi Campbell. But whilst his playa style caught him some attention, he could always back it up on stage. He always catches the time and spirit, he’s fun and he’s funny.

“To me, Big Daddy Kane is still today one of the best rappers. I would put Big Daddy Kane against any rapper in a battle. Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, any of them. I could take his ‘Raw’ “swagger” from ‘88 and put it up against any record from

today. Kane is one of the most incredible lyricists… and he will devour you on the mic. I don’t want to try to out-rap Big Daddy Kane. Big Daddy Kane can rap circles around cats.” – ICE T

“Even today I use some of his ideas for my own show. His flow was sick: He was condensing, stacking rhymes one on top of another. Trying to keep up with him was an exercise in breath control, wordplay, speed and imagination.

He was relentless on the mic.” – JAY Z

With several Gold albums to his name, Kane brings a slew of hits to Australia – from late-80s classics like ‘Ain’t No Half Steppin’” and “Raw”, which showcased his high-speed style, to the Terry Riley-produced “I Get The Job Done” and his duet with Barry White, “All Of Me”. That baritone voice has also narrated the documentary film “Notorious” and made a couple of cameo appearances in “Brown Sugar” and “Gunmen”.

“I get physical, mystical, very artistical… Giving party people something ! funky to listen to.” – BIG DADDY KANE

As a powerful figure in the rap game Kane has collaborated with artists such as Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, Craig G, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Heavy D, Busta Rhymes and Patti LaBelle. All of that along with one Grammy and a coveted VH1 Hip Hop Honor, which he received in 2005.

!Don’t miss the ultimate playa Big Daddy Kane on his first ever Australian tour. !

Bilal Australian Tour- September 2015

Slingshot & Astral People Presents

BILAL Australian Tour 2015

Fresh from gracing two back-to-back standouts on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly LP (“Institutionalized” & “These Walls”) Bilal has launched us into the stratosphere with his highly anticipated In Another Life LP, featuring production exclusively from the analog redeemer Adrian Younge & boasting guest appearances by Big K.R.I.T., Kendrick Lamar & New Zealand’s own Kimbra.

On the lead single “Satellites”, he takes the perspective of an extra-terrestrial visitor observing a world in ruin. “We’re making music that speaks to the times that we’re in,” says Bilal, who’s collaborated with everyone from Beyoncé to Justin Timberlake to Robert Glasper. “So we have to make something that people of the future can go back to and say, ‘This is the way it felt back then.”

A Philly native; Bilal was virtually born in to the music scene though his church and his father’s passion for Jazz, becoming a child prodigy, which placed him as the conductor of the church choir by the age of eleven. After attending Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, which boasts Questlove, Jazmine Sullivan and Boyz II Men as alumni, Bilal enrolled in The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York, where he’d pursue a career as a singer.

In the late ’90s, Bilal quickly began making his name in Big Apple’s underground music scene, where he met The Roots, Q-Tip and Erykah Badu. In 2001, he released his eclectic debut album 1st Born Second, a critically hailed project that incorporates R&B, jazz, hip-hop, scat, reggae and rock and features contributions from J Dilla, Dr. Dre, Mos Def, Common and Raphael Saadiq. The album sold more than 300,000 copies, cementing the one-of-a-kind talent as one of soul music’s most important new voices. His follow-up LP, Love For Sale, was even more experimental in sound yet was prematurely leaked onto the Internet in 2006, causing the album to be shelved despite positive feedback from critics and fans. In 2010, Bilal re-emerged with Airtight’s Revenge, earning a Grammy nomination for “Little One,” dedicated to his sons. Following, he dropped A Love Surreal in 2013, favouring romance over its predecessor’s darker storytelling. “I was writing a lot of love songs but I was talking about transformation, renewing and new love,” Bilal says. “It was a warm and fuzzy time.”

Bilal’s latest release, In Another Life, was born from chemistry of a purely musical sort. An impromptu 2014 studio session with Adrian Youngebegan a quick and seamless recording process that resulted in Younge sonically taking full reins of the project. Bilal was drawn to the throwback sound and vintage feel of the instrumentals, thanks to Younge’s all-analog studio. “I feel like somebody from the future going into a time chamber making something that’s futuristic with this ancient equipment,” Bilal says, comparing their work to a mashup of London prog-rock band King Crimson and legendary soul group The Delfonics. “I like static, white noise, dirt, all of that stuff. Recording on the analog shit and listening, it was dirty. You get a certain feeling from it.”

To celebrate & support the Philly-bred vocal fiend’s new album and sonic digs, catch one of his high-octane, borderline spiritual, live sets at:
